Salon Director, Chris Appleton of George’s Hairdressing, Leicester is through to the final stages of a brand new BBC Three TV show – Young Hairdresser of the Year 2009. The series aims to celebrate the millions of British workers whose talents aren’t necessarily performing and won’t win them a million-pound recording deal.
Along the lines of the popular TV talent shows, the series aims to find the best the UK has to offer by staging entertaining events that home in on one industry or profession in each episode. As well as focusing on hairdressing, other industries include Young Butcher of the Year and Young Chef of the Year.

Chris has already had to undergo a series of tough elimination rounds designed to test his hairdressing skills to the max, until the final two go head-to-head in one last, brutally hard challenge to claim the title of Young Hairdresser of the Year 2009.
“The competition is really tough”, says Chris, 25, “but this is my chance to show the world my skills and I’m loving it!”
The BBC Three show is already being dubbed ‘Chop Idol’ and will feature young, but exceptionally talented hairdressers across the country, like Chris.
The final stage filming takes place at the end of the month, for the show due to aired in the summer.
